AOL service can be used with DFWAir.Net at a reduced cost.

DFWAir.Net has had many requests by our customers to support AOL for Broadband.  This feature, known as Bring Your Own Access (Keyword: BYOA) by AOL reduces your monthly costs from $23.90 per month down to $14.95 per month.  If you are familiar with the AOL interface, and are wanting to take advantage of AOL's broadband content, follow these instructions.

There are 2 steps to this process.  The first is to change your billing information with AOL, and the second is to change your AOL settings to dial out through the established Internet connection.

To change your billing information with AOL:

  1. Sign on to America Online.

  2. Click the Keyword button located in the upper right corner of the main AOL screen.  The Keyword dialog box appears.

  3. Type Billing in the Input box and click the Go button.  The AOL Billing Center window appears.

  4. Click Change Your Billing Method or Price Plan under the Update Your Info heading (see image below).

  5. On the Modify Selection dialog box, click Update Pricing Plan (see image below).

  6. The Change Price Plan window appears. In the Price Plans window, click $14.95 BYOA, 2hrs dial-up/$2.95 (see image below).

  7. Click the Select Plan button. A dialog box appears stating the change has been submitted.

  8. Click OK . Congratulations! You have set up your AOL account to use the BYOA program.

To change your connection method in AOL:

  1. Open the AOL Sign On Screen.

  2. Click the SETUP button.  The AOL Setup window appears (see image below).

  3. Click the Add Location button. The Add Location window appears.

  4. Enter a name for the new location (for example, AOL BYOA) in the Name: field.

  5. Click the Select a connection using one of these available devices radio button and click TCP/IP:LAN or ISP (Internet Service Provider) from the drop-down menu (see image below for steps 4 and 5).

  6. Click the Next button. A dialog box appears stating that AOL is set up to use an ISP or LAN.

  7. Click the OK button. The AOL Sign On screen appears. Congratulations! You are now ready to sign On to AOL using the connection you just created.

  8. Click your new location from the drop-down list and sign on to AOL using your new connection (see image below).

If support is needed in getting these parameters set up, please don't hesitate to contact us.  We will help you configure your AOL to support our services.  However, these instructions should be suitable for most configurations.
